Basic Windsurfing Course 

Make your vacation more exciting and sail into the world of windsurfing! Have fun on the water like never before, learn to move with the wind, ride the waves, and enjoy the warm Croatian sun and beautiful nature around you! 

The goal of a basic course is to learn to windsurf by yourself in light to medium wind conditions while feeling confident, safe, and enjoying the ride!

The lessons are broken down into 6 school hours (45 minutes) that are usually completed during 2-3 consecutive days. The first hour is taking place on a dry land simulator where you'll learn the right posture on the board, the importance of the wind direction and speed, and how to recognize all of the surfing conditions - good or bad.

After learning the theoretical basics, we're moving to the fun part - the total of 6 hours out on the water! This is where you'll put theory into action and with a good spirit and desire to learn - gain amazing windsurfing skills!

During the basic course, you will learn to windsurf in various directions with optimum body and rig-position, tack, and easy jibe. Everybody aged between 9 and 65 can join this course. 

The best wind conditions for this course are 2-8 knots, but the last 2 hours can be done up to 14 knots. 

What's the best age to learn windsurfing?

Age 8-9: Kids younger than 9 have to be very motivated to truly accomplish all that this course offers. That will allow for a more enjoyable and easier experience and will help with completing the course regardless of their physical strength. For participants this young, the wind conditions have to be light during the lessons (2-5 knots) to help them with managing the sail. 

Age 10-16: This is an ideal age for learning, the participants are strong enough to easily manage the board and the sail. They're eager and carefree which makes them very fast learners.

Age 17 and up: Young adults and adults are usually more determined to learn and they often continue to windsurf regularly. The main barrier to pass for this age group is letting go of the initial fear. After that barrier is broken down, for most participants windsurfing becomes a joyful part of every holiday on the water!

OVERVIEW

• Duration: 6 school hours, usually over 2-3 days - a different schedule may be arranged with the instructor
• 2 hours of windsurfing theory with the use of a dry land simulator
• 4 hours of practice on the water with the instructors' guidance 
• Upon completion of this course, there is a possibility to acquire the VOWS Basic windsurfing license
• 1 school hour = 45 min
